Green River Chamber Getting a New Home GREEN RIVER - The Green River Chamber of Commerce will soon have a new temporary home at a permanent location. On Monday (10/22/07), the Chamber will be moving into a modular office at the Moran Overlook Parking Lot. While the move takes place, the parking lot will be closed temporarily, from Sunday night until Wednesday morning (10/21-24). Folks that use the lot as a Park and Ride are asked to use the West side of the lot after it re-opens. The Chamber will be closed Thursday and Friday (10/17-18) as well to prepare for the move. At Tuesday night's (10/15/07) Green River City Council meeting, Executive Director of the Green River Chamber of Commerce, Janet Hartford, gave an update on the situation, as well as an update from Wyoming Travel and Tourism regarding last year's numbers. If not for the contribution of the tourism industry, every household in the state would have to pay over $500 more in taxes. Visitors staying overnight in Wyoming spent $1.3 billion last year on commercial lodging. That accounted for almost half of all visitor spending in the state. Those staying in campgrounds spent $476 million, or nearly 20 percent. Looking at tourism inquiry numbers so far this year, the travel and tourism industry will probably have an even better year in 2007 when the final numbers come out. |
