Smoking Ordinance In Green River

GREEN RIVER - One down, two to go.  At last night's (11/06/07)Green River City Council meeting, the governing body passed the first reading of an ordinance to ban smoking at certain establishments in the city.  The ordinance will ban smoking at all businesses in the city except taverns, bars and private clubs.  Councilman Pete Rust was the only person to vote against the amendment.  Rust said the ordinance should have been prepared for first reading with the exceptions already in place.  The same amendment was made to the proposed no-smoking ordinance in Rock Springs.  The amendment passed 4-2 in Rock Springs with 3 members of the council not in attendance.  This was the 2nd reading in the neighboring city, which will be up for 3rd reading at the next meeting on November 20th.
