Woman Killed in Motel Fire

POWELL - One woman is dead after a motel fire in Powell on Saturday.  The Park County Coroner says the victim was 48 year old Rhonda Cox of Chugwater.  Coroner Tim Power says Cox died from smoke inhalation.  More than 60 other people were evacuated from the two-story Super 8 Motel after it caught fire early Saturday morning (10/27/07).  Powell Fire Chief Joey Darrah says the building didn't have sprinklers.  Individual fire alarms were in each room, but they did not appear to be very loud.  It's unknown if the motel was is violation of fire codes.  Darrah says it may take weeks to determine the fire's cause.
