RS beats GR on Hardwood
Rock Springs Tiger, Chase Riley had a great game Thursday night against Green River on the hardwood in the first half of the semiannual rivalry meeting. Riley scored 33 points in a game that would take overtime before Rock Springs ultimately won 71-69.
Green River had a three point lead before Jordan Rood hit a three point basket at the buzzer to send the game to an extra period. The Tigers outscored the Wolves 14-12 in the overtime period. The Tigers are now 6-11 on the season and 1-3 in conference play. Green River falls to 6-9 and 1-3 in conference play. The Wolves were led in scoring by Colter Hamel who had 29 points.
Radio Network Sports Director, Steve Core mentioned in his broadcast how Green River’s free-throw line woes could come back to bite them and in fact they did. Green River led through out the entire fourth quarter but hit only 12-31 free tosses in the game or, 39 percent.
The celebration will be short-lived for Rock Springs as they will have to travel to perhaps the state’s most hostile environment to take on the number one team in the land, the Evanston Red Devils.
For Green River, they will need to put this loss behind them as soon as possible; the Wolves host 4A West conference dark horse, the Riverton Wolverines. You can hear GR v.s. Riverton LIVE on KUGR 104.9FM/1490AM, on your Apple or Android mobile device, or, right here on www.theradionetwork.net.
