Wolves Dont Let Up
The 2-1 Green River Wolves traveled north to face the winless Cody Broncs on Friday night. The high flying Wolf-Pack offense stumbled early on, and was unable to perform at its usual dominance during most of the game. The game saw no score through the middle of the second quarter when Cody would score their first touchdown. The Broncs gained field position advantage for the score after a fake punt.
Skyler Bloom would tie the game on the longest rushing play of the night with a 67yard rumble late in the second quarter. The Broncs would answer back with a long drive and give Cody a 14-7 lead going into the fourth quarter. Green River’s defense would come up big to give the wolves a chance to tie the game with an 80+ yard interception return for a touchdown by Colter Hamel. The PAT would be no good, leaving Cody in the driver’s seat with a 14-13 lead.
Cody had several chances to run out the clock, but would give the ball back to the Wolves with just under two minutes to play. Colter Hamel would orchestrate a nearly perfect two-minute drill into Broncs territory. With just under two seconds left on the clock, the Wolves would attempt to win the game with a 42 yard field goal attempt. Hamel started the drive with his arm, and would finish it with his foot as the ball sailed through the uprights giving Green River a 16-14 victory over the Broncs.
